Personal History
Jeanette experienced a rich childhood in Guatemala, her mother's homeland, where she still has a loving family and many unforgettable friends. She attended elementary school in an amazing tropical paradise environment among both Mayan natives and European and American intellects. She completed her upper education in the USA, her father's original home. Strong fundamental ethics were basic to her upbringing. Guatemalan and USA cultures, Catholic and Mormon religions and traditions were blended in her home, as her parents were representatives of these, adding their own pioneering spirit.
Business & Community Work
As a business owner and full-time Cosmetologist for more that 50 years, in the Phoenix Cosmopolitan area, Jeanette served as consultant and various other professional roles. She helped with resolving self-esteem issues for United Way’s pilot program which inspired women to get off welfare programs. In 1988, Jeanette established a consulting business that assisted others in creating healthier and happier lifestyles. She was involved with the Phoenix Youth at Risk Program's ground-work and inception and served as motivational career orientation workshop speaker for high school seniors and consultant for court appointed programs coaching juveniles. She was a sought after consultant in various city, state, and federal educational agencies. Prior to her professional public education efforts, she created a nonprofit self-empowering group for aspiring professionals and continue to work with the best and brightest in the field of self-empowerment. In the late 80's Jeanette served as senior consultant and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Master Facilitator for Arizona Motivational Center in Phoenix. In 2002 she founded Mind & Body Works, a Motivational and Healing Center in Payson, Arizona.
In 2003, she published a self-help workbook, The Making of a Master: Tracking Your Self-Worth, which she encourage her beauty shop clients to read. It helps to understand important fundamental concepts of lifestyle rejuvenation. In 2012, she published a second book: The Feathered Serpent Speaks, which is about her own personal transformational journey. Jeanette shares her delightful life in Guatemala as a legitimate descendant of the ancient Mayas. In 2019, she published her first novel: In Lak'ech Yelir: I Am Another You, an intriguing and fascinating Mayan shaman story. In Las Vegas, Jeanette taught Conversational Spanish at Las Vegas Community College and designed personal empowerment programs for the Hispanic community for the YMCA. In Reno Jeanette was an outreach educator, establishing three health HIV/AIDS education programs for Nevada Hispanic Services. She was a youth program facilitator at University Of Nevada, and she went on to become a special commissioner on Hispanic community issues and consultant to state of Nevada under Governor Miller. She served as commissioner in the board of advisors for several organizations such as: Commission on the Status of Women, Sierra Nevada Community Access Television, Reno Housing Authority, and Reno’s Child Abuse Task Force. Jeanette served as Vice-President under President Mike Moreno of Reno/Sparks Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
